About us

Our Story
The Tijuana Sloughs, located at the mouth of the Tijuana River along the U.S.–Mexico border, hold a significant place in California surf history. In the 1940s, this stretch of coastline became one of the earliest proving grounds for big wave surfing in the state. What started with a small group of fearless locals riding heavy wooden boards quickly evolved into a movement that helped shape the identity of big wave culture. Pioneers such as Dempsey Holder and other early watermen pushed the limits of what was possible, setting the foundation for generations of surfers to come.

That legacy of grit, innovation, and commitment to the craft is at the core of Tijuana Slough Surf Co. Our brand is built around honoring those early riders who embraced risk, respected the ocean, and pursued the perfect wave with relentless focus. Every design we produce reflects that mindset—raw, authentic, and deeply connected to the roots of Southern California surf culture.

We collaborate with local artists and creators who share this vision, translating the energy of the coastline, the history of the Sloughs, and the lifestyle of San Diego into unique, original graphics. Our goal is not just to sell apparel, but to represent a culture and tell a story that resonates with those who live and breathe the surf and outdoor lifestyle.

At Tijuana Slough Surf Co., we are committed to delivering products that meet a high standard of quality, durability, and design. From concept to final product, we focus on craftsmanship and attention to detail to ensure every item reflects the standards our customers expect. This is more than apparel—it’s a continuation of a legacy rooted in performance, authenticity, and the Southern California way of life.
